POINT:
– For adults and children over 6 years old.
– Treatment of severe magnesium deficiency, separately or in combination.
When calcium deficiency is present, in most cases magnesium must be replaced before calcium supplementation.
In cases of moderate renal failure, caution should be taken to prevent the risks associated with hypermagnesemia.
This medicine is intended for adults and children over 6 years old.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Avoid using magnesium in combination with preparations containing phosphate and calcium salts, which inhibit magnesium absorption in the small intestine.
In case treatment must be combined with oral tetracycline, the two drugs must be taken at least 3 hours apart.
Do not combine with Levodopa because it is inhibited by vitamin B6.
HOW TO USE:
Adults: 6-8 tablets/24 hours
Children: 10-30mg/kg/24 hours (equivalent to 0.4-1.2mmol/kg/24 hours), in children over 6 years old (weighing about 20kg): 4-6 tablets/24 hours.
The daily dose should be divided into 2-3 times: morning, noon and afternoon; You should drink it with plenty of water each time.
Treatment should be discontinued as soon as blood magnesium levels return to normal.
USE FOR PREGNANT AND NURSING WOMEN:
No harmful effects were observed on experimental animals. There are insufficient data on the use of this medicine during pregnancy to evaluate its possible harmful effects. Therefore, the drug should only be used for pregnant women or women suspected of being pregnant when the benefits are considered greater than the possible complications.
PHARMACODYNAMICS PROPERTIES:
Physiologically, magnesium is a cation abundant in cells. Magnesium reduces neuronal excitability and neuromuscular transmission. Magnesium participates in many yeast reactions.
Pyridoxine is a coenzyme involved in protein, glucose and lipid metabolism. Pyridoxine participates in the synthesis of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the central nervous system and participates in the synthesis of hemoglobulin.
PHARMACODYNAMICS PROPERTIES:
About 1/3 of magnesium is absorbed in the small intestine after oral administration. In plasma about 25 to 30% of magnesium is bound to proteins. The portion of magnesium salts absorbed orally is eliminated from the body through the urine, and the portion of unabsorbed magnesium salts is excreted with the feces. Small amounts of magnesium are distributed in breast milk. Magnesium crosses the placenta.
Pyridoxine is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, except in cases of malabsorption. After oral administration, most of the drug is stored in the liver and partly in the muscles and brain. Pyridoxine is eliminated mainly through the kidneys in the form of metabolism. If the intake exceeds daily needs, most of it is excreted unchanged.
